Strovolos, Nicosia, Cyprus
The residence presents a refined interpretation of Mediterranean architectural principles, articulated through a minimalist lens. White facades are a tribute to the region's vernacular, providing a crisp contrast against the natural wooden elements that articulate the structure's form. These timber accents are not merely decorative but serve a functional purpose, offering shade and creating intimate outdoor spaces for repose.
The incorporation of expansive glass panels facilitates a dialogue between the interior and exterior realms, ensuring an abundance of natural light within and affording uninterrupted views of the landscaped gardens and the elegantly appointed pool area. This transparency reinforces the Mediterranean ethos of living in symphony with the environment.
The design’s intelligence is also evident in the generous roof overhangs and sheltered terraces that provide relief from the sun’s zenith.
Internally, the spatial arrangement is deliberately open, promoting not only a physical but a visual continuum throughout the living areas, which culminates in a courtyard that functions as a verdant oasis. Here, indigenous flora thrives, selected for both its aesthetic contribution and its low maintenance requirements.
