House 11120
Geri, Nicosia, Cyprus
Encased in the urban fabric, House 11120 is a manifestation of architectural restraint and calculated boldness. The building’s silhouette emerges as a collection of rectilinear forms, each distinguished by its own material, creating a striking visual narrative of solidity and transparency.
The residence opens up, with expansive windows punctuating the walls, hinting at the spacious and well-lit interiors. The precision in the alignment of windows to wooden features speaks to a design ethos of alignment and coherence. The cantilevered volumes suggest a daring use of space, projecting outward as if to engage more directly with the environment.
The residence’s entrance is subtly recessed, a welcoming gesture that contrasts with the bold façade. Here, the use of wood softens the entryway, while the overhead lighting creates a guide to the threshold, enhancing the sense of arrival.
Within the perimeter, the architecture becomes an interaction of volumes and voids. Overhangs and cutouts are deliberate, carving out terraces that offer residents a place of contemplation and connection to the outdoors.
This project is balancing privacy with openness, and showcasing an interplay between materials that is both harmonious and strikingly individual. Each design choice is intentional, contributing to an architectural language that is fluent in the vernacular of modern urban living.
