House 15922
Aglantzia, Nicosia, Cyprus
This residence presents a contemporary design characterized by clean lines, expansive glass panels, and a harmonious blend of natural and engineered materials. The exterior façade showcases a combination of wood, concrete, and stone, offering a textural contrast that is both visually appealing and functional. The structure’s flat roofing and horizontal orientation emphasize its modernist influences, while generous overhangs provide shade and protection.
Large windows act as a medium for natural light to permeate the interior spaces and also serve to dissolve the barrier between indoor and outdoor living. The integration of greenery, such as strategic plantings and vertical gardens, injects a sense of life and vibrancy into the architecture. This is complemented by the use of warm lighting, which further accentuates the building’s geometric features and landscaping during the twilight hours.
The architectural philosophy of GDM architecture here marries functionality with aesthetics, ensuring that the residence is not just a shelter but a sanctuary that responds to its environmental context and the well-being of its inhabitants. The result is a living space that is both intimate and expansive, private yet connected to the surrounding landscape.
